Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) Superintendent Diana Greene has been named Superintendent of the Year by the Florida Association of District School Superintendents (FADSS).“Diana leads with compassion and conviction, driven by a work ethic grounded in servant leadership and a commitment to education excellence,” said FADSS President and Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Michael Grego in a news release.
Greene joined the nation’s 20th largest school district in 2018 from Manatee County, where she also served as superintendent.
Over the last five years Duval County’s school district has seen a steadily rising high school graduation rate, going from 76.6% in 2014-2015 to 86.5% in 2018-2019, according to FADSS.
During her 33-year career as an educator Greene has been a teacher, assistant principal, as well as serving in other leadership positions.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry took to Twitter to congratulation Greene, writing:

Greene will represent all Florida superintendents at the AASA’s Virtual 2021 National Education Conference on February 18-19.
She is the 33rd superintendent and second African American woman to receive the honor since the inception of the awards program in 1988.
