Last week WJCT reported about text messages between Duval County School Board Member Connie Hall and a district employee in which Hall calls for the superintendent to be fired and calls him “special ed in action.”

On Thursday, Hall emailed a statement to WJCT saying she regrets that the texts have become “such a great distraction” from the “academic excellence of Duval County students.”

She also says she apologizes if the reference she used to describe his “deliberate acts of disrespect” was offensive.

Vitti responded to the texts last week saying they speak to the “hostile work environment that has been created by certain board members.” He says, as someone with dyslexia, he was hurt particularly by the “special ed” comment.
