A former state lawmaker and a former Jacksonville Fire Chief are among the new hires at Jacksonville City Hall.

Mayor-elect Lenny Curry is announcing key members of his team, who will start work July 1.

Returning to a familiar role, former City Chief Financial Officer Mike Weinstein will direct the city’s finance department. Weinstein also served as a state representative for four years and directed the Jacksonville State Attorney’s Office. He is also the CEO of Volunteers in Medicine.

Curry also announced Allison Korman Shelton will direct Intergovernmental Affairs. A former coordinator in the Florida Senate President’s office, Korman Shelton, is now a vice president at the Stellar engineering and construction firm.

Bill Spann will lead the city’s Public Affairs Department. Spann has served as chief of staff for both the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and Department of Children & Families.

And finally, Former Jacksonville Fire Chief Charles Moreland will direct Community Affairs. Moreland was the city’s youngest-ever fire chief when appointed in 2010.
