Fletcher COVID Closure Extended To Oct. 28; Douglas Anderson Also Closed

Fletcher High School

Fletcher High School will remain closed until at least next Wednesday following a cluster of COVID-19 cases, according to WJCT News partner The Florida Times-Union.

On Monday, Duval County Public Schools announced the high school — which closed last week — would continue online learning instead of resuming class in-person.

"As of yesterday, the Florida Department of Health is reporting more than 30 positive cases associated with our school community," an email to families said.

Sunday, the school district announced Douglas Anderson School of the Arts would temporarily close and switch to an online learning format following a cluster of cases impacting the community. The school district said it knew of at least six cases, prompted by an off-campus dance class with loose coronavirus precautions and no masks being worn.
