The Florida Legislature may be at odds over Medicaid expansion, but at least it agrees on the long-awaited growler.  The House approved the measure Friday.Listen here.

While the Senate’s growler legislation has picked up amendments throughout the committee process, the House version remained clean.  Then at its final committee stop, the measure took on a raft of provisions from a different house bill that had died in committee.  The changes brought the House bill closer to the Senate version approved more than a week ago.  On the House floor Thursday Rep. Chris Sprowls (R-Palm Harbor) substituted the Senate bill for his own.

“Senate bill 186 legalizes the long-awaited sixty four ounce growler, creates certainty in the licensing process for craft brewers and provides for additional flexibility for craft distillers to sell their product.”

With Friday’s vote, growler legislation is on its way to the governor’s desk.  If he signs off on it, the sixty-four ounce growler will be legal in Florida on July 1.
