I-95 At Baymeadows Lane Closures Scheduled This Weekend; Emerson St. Repaving Begins Next Week

Map of this weekend's construction project at Baymeadows and I-95.

Motorists using the Baymeadows Road at Interstate 95 will likely face some delays this weekend.

The two inside lanes of westbound and eastbound Baymeadows Road from Western Way to Baymeadows Way, and one left inside turn lane of the I-95 northbound exit ramp to westbound Baymeadows Road will be closed Friday night at 11 p.m. through Monday morning at 7 a.m.

Construction workers will be installing an overhead roadway sign, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

In addition, FDOT says the right “free-flow” lane from I-95 southbound to Baymeadows Road westbound will close Sunday night at 11 p.m. and reopen Monday by 7 a.m.

Traffic control officers will be on site to direct traffic.

Drivers should expect significant traffic delays and congestion in the area and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.

The work is part of FDOT’s $6.6 million Baymeadows Road intersection and safety improvement project, which is scheduled to be completed early next year.

Emerson St. repaving begins next week.

FDOT will also be resurfacing one mile of Emerson Street (State Road 126) from Hendricks Avenue (State Road 13) to Philips Highway (U.S. 1) starting next week.

That project includes traffic signal upgrades, the installation of countdown pedestrian timers and sidewalk and handicap-accessible ramp improvements at the intersection of St. Augustine Road.

Concrete medians will be installed on both sides of the Florida East Coast Railroad crossing, located a block west of Philips Highway.

The $1.1 million Emerson Street project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2018.
