If you use the Wonderwood Drive bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway you may run into some delays later this month.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plans to begin repair work on the bridge the week of October 23.
Eastbound lane closures will occur on the bridge during the first several weeks of construction as a work platform is attached. However, FDOT tells WJCT News that workers will avoid lane closures during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
All lanes will remain open between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
After the platform is attached the lane closures on the bridge will be intermittent, if needed. FDOT says any additional closures will also be scheduled to avoid peak traffic times.
The $2.7 million dollar project, which was awarded to M & J Construction of Pinellas County, is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2019.
