Rep. John Rutherford, R-Fla., speaks during a House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, May 28, 2020.

Northeast Florida Congressman John Rutherford is among the Republicans who plan to object to certifying the Electoral College results Wednesday.

Rutherford tweeted that he will object to making President-elect Joe Biden's victory official.

Without evidence, Rutherford is calling on state lawmakers in six states to decertify the results of their presidential elections so the U.S. House can step in and choose between Biden and President Donald Trump.

The Jacksonville branch of the NAACP is among those criticizing Rutherford’s baseless call. Local NAACP President Isaiah Rumlin called it “a blatant disrespect to democracy” in a Monday email to WJCT News.
