Oceanway area motorists exiting U.S. 17, which is also known as Main Street, onto I-295 South will soon have an easier time.
Wednesday at 8 a.m. the Florida Department of Transportation plans to shift northbound traffic onto the newly constructed ramp in an area that's long been clogged with traffic cones.
The existing ramp, shown in red on the map, will be closed to traffic.
The work is part of the 1-95/I-295 North Interchange Operational Improvement project that includes new auxiliary lanes and ramp improvements. The overall $176.8 million project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2021.
