Changes are in the works at the city’s baseball grounds thanks to the new owner of the Jacksonville Suns.

Thirty-five-year-old Ken Babby bought the minor league team back in March, but he had to wait until the end of the 2015 season to make any changes.

On WJCT’s “First Coast Connect” Monday morning, Babby said he has some improvements in mind that should make fans very happy: “A cleaner, crisper looking baseball grounds, new picnic areas. Fans can look forward to new party areas, new facility areas.  So it’s hard to believe, 200 days ‘til opening day, but we’ll have it all ready.”

The Suns are Babby’s second minor league baseball team.  He bought the Akron Arrows in 2012 and changed the name to the Akron Rubber Ducks. He says the Suns will keep their name.

Cyd Hoskinson began working at WJCT on Valentine’s Day 2011.
