Charter schools are privately owned and managed, but are under contract to public school districts and funded by the taxpayers and accountable to the public.

With over 576 charter schools in Florida, the League of Women Voters of Florida did a study to better understand the oversight, management, accountability and transparency of charter schools in the state.

Angela DeMonbreun, president of League of Women Voters of the First Coast, Bernadette Miron, member of the LWV Charter School Study Committee, and Trey Csar, president of Jacksonville Public Education Fund joined Karen Feagins to discuss the results of the study and the impact of charter schools on the First Coast.
