The Florida Board of Education scheduled a meeting for Oct. 7 to assess whether 11 Florida school districts adhered to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Parents' Bill of Rights.

Meanwhile, Duval County Public Schools voted Tuesday to potentially sue the Florida Department of Health for the autonomy to create its own masking requirements.

Zoo-a-Thon

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens hosts its second annual telethon, or “Zoo-a-thon,” this weekend. WJCT News partner News4Jax will broadcast the fundraiser.

Jacksonville Jazz Festival

The Jacksonville Jazz Festival turns 40 this year, and the celebration kicks off this weekend Downtown. Free performances will be at two stages along the St. Johns River, along with a fireworks display to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
