The Duval County School Board meets today to discuss continuing with a mask mandate.

The district defied the state by mandating masks for students and joined five other districts around the state in filing a legal challenge against the Florida Department of Health.

Guest: Attorney Jamie Alan Cole, partner at Weiss Serota Heifman Cole and Bierman and outside counsel for the six districts.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Northeast Florida’s premier domestic violence shelter, Hubbard House, released the results of its 2020 Domestic Violence Fatality Review Report.

In 2020, 14 Duval County residents died from domestic violence-related deaths, eight related to intimate partner domestic violence.

To mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Hubbard House received a$1 million grant to help victims raise awareness about intimate partner violence.

Crystal also joined us to share her story of losing two of her children to gun-related domestic violence. She is a gun safety advocate working to make people aware of the links between domestic violence and gun violence.

Guest: Hubbard House CEO Gail Patin.

Guest: Crystal, gun safety advocate.
