What’s good Wednesday

  • In 1942, at the height of the Second World War, Nazis came ashore on Ponte Vedra Beach. Florida historian Scott A. Grant will tell that story at  the Alhambra Theater, June 9. Grant will reveal some shocking Florida history and give ghosts a voice with this highly regarded presentation. The event is sold out.
  • The Performers Academy specializes in arts programming as a behavioral intervention and mental health resource for local kids. Through their partnership with Family Support Services, their annual summer camp for foster teens begins its 11th program cycle on Monday, July 11th. This year's showcase theme is "Reality Shows." Their Sweet 16 Gala & Celebrity Lip Sync Battle is the benefit that can bring these goals to fruition. Come on out to the Jessie Ball duPont Center on Saturday, June 3 from 7-9 pm for food, fun, and entertainment. The recommended donation for a table of eight is $600 or $150 for a party of two.
  • June is Pride Month and the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is hosting a Pride Dance Party this Friday from 6-9 pm at the museum. DJ and hip hop artist GeeXella created Duval Folx to be an inclusive dance party for BIPOC and LGBTQI+ communities as a space where people can truly respect each other. Register for free here.
