Dozens of students voiced fears of losing DEI programming and student clubs to UNF President Moez Limayem on Feb. 23, 2023.

University of North Florida students are speaking out against the governor’s ban on DEI programs on campus. That’s diversity equity and inclusion.

Last month, dozens of students took part in a fiery town hall meeting where they directly challenged UNF President Moez Limayem on the issue.

The tense exchange came just as a new campus survey finds the majority of UNF students support the very kind of programs Gov. Ron DeSantis is seeking to stamp out on Florida campuses.

Guest:

  • Alivia Kalin, UNF senior.
  • Austin Rolette, recent UNF graduate.

Student loans

The Supreme Court right now is considering whether to approve President Biden’s sweeping federal student loan forgiveness plan. Biden wants to cancel up to $20,000 dollars in debt for tens of millions of Americans.

At the same time, the Biden administration has released new guidance on filing for bankruptcy as a way to deal with student loan debt.

Guest: Chip Parker, attorney with Parker and DuFresne.

City Council races

Election Day is Tuesday. So, we wrapped up this cycle’s profiles of candidates on the ballot.

Guest: Charles Garrison, candidate for Jacksonville City Council, At-Large Group 5.

Vegan Chef Challenge

There's never been a better time to try going vegan, as the inaugural Jacksonville Vegan Chef Challenge kicks off on April 1.

Local chefs will be competing for your votes with creative and delicious plant-based menu options.

Guest: Yuri Mitzkewich, the Challenge’s organizer.
