Terrance Freeman says he hopes people see his dedication to service during his one-year term as City Council president.

The Jacksonville City Council swore in a new council body on Thursday and Ron Salem as the new council president. The ceremony effectively brought to a close the 2022-23 leadership term of President Terrance Freeman.

Typically, each council president’s term is measured on legislative accomplishments and their ability to lead during challenging issues of the day.

Freeman joined us today to discuss his accomplishments and challenges.

Food insecurity

Solutions to addressing food insecurity continues to be at the forefront of humanitarian and quality-of-life needs. Feeding Northeast Florida recently announced a merger with Bread of the Mighty, the Gainesville-based food bank that has served five counties in North Central Florida for more than 35 years. The merger enhances the work that Bread of the Mighty has done for more than three decades.

Susan King, CEO of Feeding Northeast Florida, spoke to us in depth about these solutions.

Museum of Science & History

The Museum of Science & History has announced the launch of MOSHHHH …, a new initiative that features sensory-friendly hours and related programming.

The initiative is made possible through a partnership with UF Health and its Center for Autism and Related Disabilities and Early Steps program, and We Rock the Spectrum.

Dr. Anthony Mortimer, vice president of education and exhibits at MOSH, gave us more information.

New jaguar cub

The newest resident at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens — a male Jaguar cub — is still in need of a name.

And YOU can help select one!

Kelly Rouillard, director of marketing and sales for the zoo, was here now to explain how.
