A pending bill has raised alarms in Jacksonville, as city auditors warn it might drain tens of millions of dollars from city funds. Two bills are in question, HB1277 and its companion, SB 1510. Both seek to limit the amount of money a city-owned utility, like JEA, could contribute to the city.

Guest:

  • Randy DeFoor, attorney and former City Council member.
  • Laura Schepis, chief of external affairs at JEA.

Jelani Cobb

Today, WJCT has the honor of hosting Jelani Cobb, an esteemed author and scholar who serves as the dean of Columbia University’s renowned journalism school. The event will be at 7 p.m. on the station's soundstage for an insightful interview conducted by our own Will Brown. Unfortunately, the event is sold out, but you can catch our broadcast on your WJCT Youtube Page.

Bonnie Prince Billy

Bonnie “Prince’ Billy, known for being covered by artists ranging from country legend Johnny Cash to alt rockers Deer Tick, is set to showcase his distinctive blend of American contemporary folk tonight at Intuition Ale Works. WJCT’s arts and culture editor, Matt Shaw, had a chat with the artist to talk about his new record.
