Each Friday, our media roundtable dives into the biggest stories of the week. Among our topics this week:

  • Duval school leaders discipline a City Council member for kicking a student, even as she announces plans to challenge her suspension.
  • A comic book version of Orwell’s dystopian classic 1984 is banned after complaints that it is “pornographic” and inappropriate.
  • The mayor’s race gets real as Republican state Rep. Wyman Duggan formally enters the contest.
  • And local lawmakers delay a vote on incentives for a much-anticipated Publix until after the Amendment 3 vote in November.

We talk about all that and take your calls, questions and comments. You can join the conversation on air at 904-549-2937 or go to firstcoastconnect.org to find all the ways to connect with us.

Guests:

  • Trinity Webster-Bass, education reporter, The Florida Trib
  • John Daigle, political consultant, former government reporter
  • Jim Piggott, former City Hall reporter at News4Jax

The program is staged at Arts Collective Theatre on select dates from Oct. 9 to Oct. 25.
