Each Friday, our media roundtable dives into the biggest stories of the week. Among our topics this week:
- Florida remains a solidly red state, but several contests were too close for GOP comfort.
- Incentives for a Downtown Publix stall over the expected budget “grenade” of Amendment 3.
- Some call for a School Board member to resign after reports that he reposted an anti-Islamic screed.
- Jacksonville's city election season is officially underway, as the property tax cut emerges as a key issue in the March race for mayor.
We talk about all that and take your calls, questions and comments. You can join the conversation on air at 904-549-2937 or go to firstcoastconnect.org to find all the ways to connect with us.

A free community festival that began with a few dozen organizers and hosts is now a thriving, much-anticipated regional event that draws fans from far beyond its Springfield footprint. The 12th annual Jacksonville Porchfest will be held Saturday in and around Klutho Park in Historic Springfield, featuring 20-plus bands performing on neighborhood porches. Performers this year include 1BlackFriend, Los Muertos, Nikalya and the Phunk, the Queens of Tulua (featuring The Lady Visaya) and hip hop legend Willie Evans Jr. The event runs noon to 8 p.m. and includes food trucks, drink carts and arts vendors. Folding chairs, blankets and sunscreen are encouraged.
