JEA's Downtown headquarters

WJCT News 89.9
JEA's former Downtown headquarters.

Today on First Coast Connect, the people who helped expose the JEA scandal are honored for their work. We talk to former city Ethics Officer Carla Miller and former City Council President Anna Brosche, both recipients of the inaugural Public Service Excellence Awards presented by the University of North Florida’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration. We are also joined by Georgette Dumont, associate professor of political science and public administration, to discuss the significance of the awards and the work of recipients helping “uncover conspiracy and wire fraud at city-owned utility JEA.”

Then, we talk to safety advocate Joyce Delfius about the importance of teaching swimming to people of color, young and old.

Then, Tree Hill Nature Center hosts a symposium on environmental priorities and legislative opportunities.

  • Larry Zwain, member of the Sierra Club of Northeast Florida’s executive committee and political-legislative team.
  • Logan Cross, chair of Sierra Club of Northeast Florida’s executive committee.
