The Olympic rings are set up at Trocadero plaza on Sept. 14, 2017.

From swimming to street skateboarding, more than a dozen athletes with First Coast connections have qualified to compete in Paris. The list of onetime Northeast Florida denizens includes seven-time gold medalist Caeleb Dressel, who hails from Green Cove Springs; quadruple Olympic champion Ryan Murphy from Ponte Vedra Beach; and Poe Pinson, street skateboard champ from Fernandina Beach.

Guests:

  • Mark Baughman, retired federal law enforcement officer, safety analyst and professional risk consultant.
  • Lewis Turner, co-anchor of Good Morning Jacksonville and meteorologist.

Then, as part of our continuing primary election coverage, we focus on the race for Duval County School Board District 5, which serves Normandy, Murray Hill, Avondale, San Marco, Paxon and Lackawanna.

Guest:

  • Nahshon Nicks, Duval School Board candidate District 5. ( One of his opponents, Reggie Blount, recently appeared on First Coast Connect. Another opponent, Hank Rogers, is scheduled to appear Aug. 5.)
