A voter casts his ballot in an earlier election.

In Florida, voters begin casting their ballots at 7 a.m. across two time zones. Former political reporter and longtime election analyst and consultant John Daigle joins us to discuss the key races and ballot initiatives that could shape the future of the state and nation for years to come.

Then, “Treetop Barbie.” We talk to a scientist exploring “the last biological frontier” in the forest canopy and bridging science and public awareness about the essential role of forest ecosystems. In 2021, she partnered with National Geographic and Mattel to create a line of Explorer Barbie dolls, hoping to inspire a new generation to care about conservation and the vital role of trees. She’s in town for a Jacksonville Zoo fundraiser, “A Toast to Conservation.”

Guest:

  • Nalini Nadkarni, professor emeritus, School of Biological Sciences at the University of Utah.

And a popular oral storytelling series featuring narratives written and told by Northeast Florida residents returns to the stage at The Florida Theatre. This season, local storytellers explore the roiling theme: “Wave.”

Guests:

  • Barbara Colaciello, artistic director and host of Untold Stories.
  • Linda Altman, featured storyteller.
