On Wednesday’s show: RYAM’s bioethanol plans in Fernandina Beach

The company behind a proposed bioethanol plant in Fernandina Beach recently compelled residents to drop their legal challenge of the project. We ask RYAM officials about their legal request for financial sanctions against the petitioners and why they believe the project will benefit the Nassau County community.

Guests:

  • Debra Lane, vice president of environmental affairs at RYAM.
  • Mark Homans, senior director of project management at RYAM.

Then, Jacksonville’s own “folk art Smithsonian” gets city recognition. We explore the history of the Whetstonian building on Jefferson Street and the mystery of its unique creator, Walter Whetstone.

Guest: Tim Gilmore, author and publisher of the JaxPsychoGeo blog.

And, a golf tournament named for relentless Parkinson’s advocate and educator Bill Wilson raises awareness and funds for First Coast patients with the progressive disease.

Guests:

  • Gregg Hummer, president and director of the Support Group Assistance Program at Jax Hope Inc.
  • Alaine Keebaugh, director of grants and development at Jax Hope Inc.
