Before you complain about the cost of groceries, consider this: More than $550 million worth of groceries are thrown away every day in the United States. That waste causes both environmental and economic damage. We talk to two local composting experts about a surprisingly easy way to disrupt that cycle.

Then, physicists from the University of North Florida get the green light and funding to explore dark matter, an invisible and hypothetical form of matter that scientists believe constitutes 80% of the universe. Physics professors Chris Kelso and Greg Wurtz detail their plans to examine the inferred interaction between dark matter and ordinary matter by studying crystals found in rock samples.
