Why kids are leaving Florida for cancer care

Florida has the third-largest population of children in the country but does not have a pediatric cancer center ranked among the nation’s top 25. Because of that, an estimated 10% of kids with rare or aggressive cancers are forced to leave the state for treatment, along with nearly half of all children with recurrent cancers. We ask the director of Jacksonville’s largest children’s hospital why that is and what needs to change to better serve Florida's kids.
