On Wednesday’s show: 'The New Cold Wars'

Ralph Alswang

Ahead of his appearance Wednesday at the University of North Florida, we talk to three-time Pulitzer Prize winning reporter David E. Sanger about his book The New Cold Wars. In addition to reporting for the New York Times on security concerns, cyber threats and the United States’ increasingly hostile relationship with Russia and China, Sanger is covering Trump 2.0 as White House correspondent. He’s in Jacksonville as part of the World Affairs Council’s Global Issues series.

Guest:

  • David E. Sanger, New York Times White House and national security correspondent.

Then, Asheville-based bluegrass faves Steep Canyon Rangers perform in Jacksonville on Dec. 4. The band’s singer and upright bassist explains why one of the band’s “sweet spots” is the Florida Theatre.

Guest:

  • Barrett Smith, upright bassist and vocalist for Steep Canyon Rangers.

And, Nassau County’s cultural council gets a name change and a needed boost of independence. We talk to the president of the new nonprofit about what the shift means for the arts in the rapidly growing county.

Guest:

  • Richard A. Restiano Sr., president of the Nassau Council of Arts and Culture Inc.
