On Thursday’s show: Denials by design

Florida's insurance crisis is leaving millions of homeowners vulnerable.
News4Jax
Florida's insurance crisis is leaving millions of homeowners vulnerable.

A recent 60 Minutes report and an earlier investigation by The Washington Post echo what Jacksonville attorney Steven Bush has been saying to any lawmaker who will listen: Some Florida insurance companies have been aggressively reducing payouts to policyholders by modifying licensed claim adjusters’ reports. This practice has left homeowners shouldering as much as 97% of the cost of needed home repairs, highlighting the chasm between the price of storm damage and insurers' willingness to pay for it.

Guest: Steven Bush, attorney, Merlin Law Group, P.A.

Then, learning by doing: The University of North Florida introduces a new experience-based learning program to help boost students' success in school, work and life.

Guests:

  • Erin Richman, associate vice president of student success at the University of North Florida.
  • Elma Bektic, University of North Florida senior.

And an exhibition showcasing women-identifying artists opens at Share Art Gallery. The exhibition, Soppy, explores themes of texture, skin and saturation through visual works of multiple artists. Creators and co-curators Kenny Wilson and Em Spitler explain the origins and aims of the show.
