Cracking down on crack convictions

A Florida prosecutor hopes to overturn up to 2,600 drug convictions tied to a controversial strategy in which law enforcement officers manufactured crack cocaine in order to sell it and bust buyers. Although the Florida Supreme Court deemed the practice illegal in 1993, the convictions remain. Now, a Broward County prosecutor wants the cases vacated as part of a wider conviction integrity program.

Then, we sit down with the local director and co-writer of The Man in the White Van, a film inspired by the true story of a serial killer. The movie, which is based on a 1975 Florida case, follows a teenager in a seemingly peaceful town in Hernando County who suddenly notices she’s being pursued by an ominous man in a white van.

And, the Jaguars hosted the New York Jets on Sunday after a rare win over the Titans the weekend before. But with backup quarterback Mac Jones stepping in for the injured Trevor Lawrence, the team was unable to rally for another victory.
