A wave of presidential appointees from the Sunshine State will flood D.C. next month as President-elect Donald Trump taps Florida allies to fill key positions. We examine what the next administration could mean for state government — and the city of Jacksonville — with attorney and local government expert Chris Hand, who served as chief of staff to Jacksonville's mayor from 2011 to 2015.
Then, an Amelia Island family recently donated nearly 400 acres of salt marsh, wetlands and maritime hammock to the North Florida Land Trust, preserving it for generations. The property is adjacent to Fort Clinch State Park and stretches about 2 miles to Egan’s Creek. We talk to the land’s owner about why his family chose conservation as their lasting legacy.
