A highly visible local effort to foster unity and fight antisemitism gets underway in Jacksonville. After a worrisome rise in instances of hatred and hostility in the U.S., the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Northeast Florida launched a billboard campaign in partnership with the Together Strong Community Fund and JewBelong. The hot pink signs aim to raise awareness about hatred of Jews and call on people of all backgrounds to fight it.
Guests:
- Mariam Feist, CEO of the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Northeast Florida
- Nelson France, director of the Jewish Community Relations Council at the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Northeast Florida
Then, a New Year’s Day rescue at the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve revealed a troubling issue that occurs all too frequently: domestic rabbits abandoned in the wild. We spoak with the founder of Bebette’s Bunny Rescue, Northeast Florida’s only nonprofit dedicated to rescuing rabbits, about the grim realities domesticated animals face when released. Plus, we met one of the 12 bunnies recently rescued from the preserve.
Guest: Samantha Burns, founder of Bebette’s Bunny Rescue
Finally: how to join the planetary parade! Beginning in late January and expanding in February, seven planets will be in alignment — Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and Mars. We ask our resident space man where and when to get the best view.
Guest: Eddie Whisler, director of the planetarium at MOSH
