February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. To help raise awareness, a local domestic violence organization has launched a social media initiative, #ItStartsWithBelieving, emphasizing the importance of listening to teens when they express concerns about their relationships and recognizing that everyone has a role in ending teen dating violence in Northeast Florida. We speak with Hubbard House’s director of community education and a dating violence survivor about this often-overlooked form of domestic violence and the challenges victims face.

Guests:

  • Stephanie Brown, director of community education at Hubbard House.
  • Estelle, dating violence survivor.

Then, the queen of pop culture podcasts dishes on her new book, Back After This. We talk to the host of the popular NPR podcast Pop Culture Happy Hour about balancing the endless stream of cultural content with the demands of writing her third novel.

Guest:

And, from finding community in creativity to embracing the lessons of the past, the live oral storytelling series Untold Stories returns to The Florida Theatre. The popular performance showcases intimate moments of transformation, resilience and connection. We speak with the program’s artistic director and host, along with a veteran storyteller from the series’ first season.

Guests:

  • Barbara Colaciello, artistic director and host of Untold Stories.
  • Yhang Quintero, storyteller.
