Lifting homes has become a booming business in coastal Florida, as homeowners scramble to stay above floodwaters. We ask two people deeply involved in St. Augustine’s preparation for climate change about the cost, benefits and long-term viability of hiking homes above rising seas.

Guests:

  • Jessica Beach, chief resilience officer and deputy director of St. Augustine’s Public Works & Utilities Department.
  • Richard “Buddy” Schauland, building official and code enforcement manager for the city of St. Augustine.

Then, a notorious gangster, a corrupt mob family and a fatal shootout on the Acosta Bridge. We explore just one of the many history wormholes created by the author of JaxPsychoGeo, a blog devoted to the often dark, occasionally dumbfounding and always diverting history of the First Coast.

Guest:

  • Tim Gilmore, author, educator and publisher of the blog JaxPsychoGeo.

And, historic Springfield is bringing the Big Easy to Jax with its own twist on Mardi Gras, SPARdi Gras.
