It’s mold-ridden, labeled “unsanitary” by city inspectors and facing $1.8 million in code violations. Fifty-eight years after the once-iconic mall became a regional destination and one of the most successful malls in the country, we ask Jacksonville City Council member Ken Amaro if it’s time to restore or raze the troubled Regency Square Mall.

Guests:

  • Ken Amaro, District 1 Jacksonville City Council member.

Then, a new podcast tackles the growth of, roadblocks to and visions for Downtown development. We ask the host of the Jacksonville Blueprint Podcast about how he hopes to answer the riddle of revitalizing the urban core through interviews with key stakeholders.

Guest:

  • Marty Busekrus, podcast host and managing director at Ciminelli Real Estate Services of Florida.

And, WJCT’s Electro Lounge takes its grooves on the road — and across the river to the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium at the Museum of Science & History. The first-ever Electro Lounge Night at the Planetarium pairs the signature downtempo, lo-fi, jazz and hip-hop sounds of Electro Lounge with immersive visuals and a cruise through the cosmos. We ask the program’s architects how the journey got started.

Guests:

  • Eddie Whisler, planetarium director at the Museum of Science & History.
  • David Luckin, station manager at WJCT and host of Electro Lounge.
