For more than 16 years, community leader and educator Sel Buyuksarc and his wife, Angie, have invited friends, colleagues and neighbors to share in their Ramadan tradition. In 2023, they expanded their “table,” partnering with the nonprofits OneJax, GlobalJax and WJCT Public Media to host Experience Ramadan, a public event that welcomes hundreds to learn, share and celebrate. The tradition continues this Wednesday at WJCT Studios, offering an evening of unity, reflection and great food.

Finally, we preview Lumen Repertory Theatre’s upcoming production of Agnes of God. The play tells the story of a novice nun accused of infanticide, a court-appointed psychiatrist and the convent’s Mother Superior searching for truth amid trauma. John Pielmeier’s script examines the conflict between religious doctrine and personal suffering. The show, which opens March 14, kicks off Lumen Rep’s subversive 2025 season.
