Then, we preview a broadcast connecting local audiences with London’s National Theatre. As part of the National Theatre Live series, WJCT Public Media screens the stage play The Motive and the Cue. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendez (American Beauty), the play offers a fictionalized take on the real life 1964 Broadway production of Hamlet, which was directed by John Gielgud (played by Mark Gatiss) and starred Richard Burton (played by Johnny Flynn), newly married to Elizabeth Taylor (played by Tuppence Middleton). The recording of the performance offers First Coast residents a West End theatre experience from the comfort of WJCT Studios.
