Dangerous levels of lead have been found in synthetic hair products marketed to Black customers. This comes on the heels of revelations about the dangers of chemical hair relaxers used by many Black women. We talk about the emerging science of cosmetic hazards in the beauty industry, as well as how the new data can help everyone better evaluate the safety of products used intimately and often.

Then, we talk to the visionaries behind the transformation of the 112-year-old Union Terminal Warehouse. The newly renovated Eastside structure is a live/work enterprise featuring apartments, offices and even light industrial and studio space, as well as on-site food offerings. Eastside advocates hope its a catalyst for growth and change.
