Billions of dollars for roads, bridges and Internet broadband are headed to Florida over the next five years following the passage of a massive federal infrastructure bill. The trillion-dollar-plus spending plan earmarks money for a list of projects including transportation, public transit, electric vehicle charging stations, clean water projects and more. The bill garnered some bipartisan support nationwide, but not among Florida’s Congressional delegation. Florida Democrats voted for the bill while Republicans opposed it.

Public schools adjust mask mandates
Many students in Florida’s public schools have been required to wear masks for months as the pandemic continues. As infection rates fall and younger children are eligible to be vaccinated, school districts that ignored pressure from the state’s Department of Education and required students to wear masks have begun easing those rules.
