Men's Health Month; Volunteers in Medicine

In much of Eastern Europe, coronavirus deaths are high and vaccination rates are low, but politicians have hesitated to impose the measures curb the virus that experts are calling for. A World Health Organization official declared earlier this month that Europe is again the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic. (AP Photo/Vadim Ghirda, File)

Men often struggle more than women to maintain good health. One reason is that some men are reluctant to go to the doctor. According to a National Harris Poll, 30% of men will wait until the last minute to seek care. In Duval County, adult men were hospitalized 2,000 times more than women in 2018. This number increases when considering under-insured men.
