Gasparilla Music Festival Is This Weekend

More than 40 artists will rock Tampa Bay at this weekend’s Gasparilla Music Festival.

Headlined by the Avett Brothers and Gary Clark Jr., the eighth year of the music festival will feature local and national acts. NPR Tiny Desk Concert winners Tank and the Bangas are one of the featured performers.

Founded in 2011, GMF is a non-profit corporation that supports music education by providing instruments and scholarships to students.

One of the local featured acts is Sugar Rush - an all-girl rock band from St. Petersburg. Twin eighth graders Holland and Jolie, along with classmate Maddie, make up the trio.

“I want the crowd to feel inspired when they hear our music. I want them to be relaxed and have a great time and to not worry about anything,” said drummer and vocalist Jolie.

This is the group’s second time performing at GMF.

“One of my favorite parts about GMF is the headliners,” said lead vocalist and guitarist Holland. “It’s a big deal to headline and it inspires you to keep on going.”

Sugar Rush will perform Saturday at 12:15 p.m. on the Ferman Amphitheater Stage at Kiley Gardens.

WHEN:

Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 11 p.m.
