Renovations at the Beaches public library are nearly a year behind schedule. At a public forum earlier this month, library patrons left with some unanswered questions about the project.
But public works officials are ready to give more answers at another forum scheduled for Thursday evening.
The library in Neptune Beach has had some windows boarded up since last spring, when a renovation project suddenly stopped. The city recently announced it fired the contractor and is looking for a new one to complete the work. Library System spokeswoman Kathy Lussier says tonight’s forum should provide more detail than one held two weeks ago.
“We invite any concerned citizens to come out and get the information straight from the public works department,” Lussier said. “Also, we’re looking forward to having council members Gulliford and Crescimbeni.”
Officials will talk about the budget and project timeline, Lussier says. In addition to replacing windows, the building needs upgrades to make it more accessible to people with disabilities.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the library on Third Street in Neptune Beach.
