City Councilwoman Brosche Says She's Still Considering A Run For Jacksonville Mayor

The Jacksonville Daily Record
Jacksonville At-Large Group 1 City Councilwoman Anna Lopez Brosche

Jacksonville At-Large Group 1 City Councilwoman Anna Lopez Brosche first floated the possibility that she might run for mayor several months ago during an appearance on First Coast Connect. She was City Council President at the time.

Brosche still hasn’t ruled out challenging Mayor Lenny Curry, with whom she’s had a difficult relationship.

Brosche said it’s a big decision and one she’s getting closer to making.

“I’m still considering. It’s a big decision, and I’m still thinking. I often tell people I’m a recovering overthinker, so that’s where we are.”

Curry has been heavily fundraising meanwhile for his re-election bid. Brosche has until January to decide on a mayoral challenge. The last day to qualify is January 11, 2019, according to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections webite.

The first election for mayor will be March 19, 2019. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent, the top two vote getters will face off in the general election on April 15, 2019.
