'Hilariously Bad' Music Video About Jacksonville Going Viral

YouTube

When Jacksonville City Councilman Jim Love worked with Laurence Walden to create a video to promote Jacksonville, he was hoping that a lot of people watch see it. He didn't expect that the video would be called "cringeworthy" as the Florida Times-Union reports."

The video, which some are calling an embarrassment to the city of Jacksonville, includes a chorus of singers in matching "I ? Living 'in Jacksonville' Florida" t-shirts swaying to the music while they sing at The Jacksonville Landing. The song includes an exorbitant number of references to Jacksonville related things: Jacksonville neighborhoods, attractions and events.

However, occasionally, something can be so terrible it becomes wonderful. As Gawker reports "this song is the bomb." YouTube commenter Ben Price said, "This is hilariously bad. If that's what you were aiming for, well done."

Love hoped the song could become the theme song for Jacksonville. “We just wanted to have a song, that’s all,” Love said. He isn't bothered by the negative attention though. Love joked, “We’re probably going to get a Grammy, maybe not.” You can watch the video below.

In case you are now caught up in a bit of civic spirit for "Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Florida," here are a few more songs about Jacksonville that have received a bit more appreciation. Perhaps one of these could be considered for Jacksonville's theme song instead?

Angel Angelfire - "Duval Ditty"

Josh Turner - "Jacksonville"

Yellowcard - "Ocean Avenue Acoustic"

Bonus - Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Gimme Three Steps"

The song "Gimme Three Steps" by Lynyrd Skynyrd is about the time that lead singer Ronnie Van Zant got into a fight with a man at a bar called the Little Brown Jug that was located on Jacksonville's Westside in the '70s.
