Following a grant from Southwest Airlines, the city of Jacksonville is announcing more upgrades to downtown’s Hemming Park.

The plaza that touches City Hall and the city’s main library will soon be home to a new, permanent stage for live events. It’s also getting a new restaurant kiosk owned by Black Sheep Restaurant Group.

Community First Credit Union is sponsoring the stage project.

The Black Sheep kiosk is expected to be designed from repurposed shipping containers donated by CSX and Crowley Marine.

Both projects are expected to be completed next year.
