From Bills vs. Jags to the Heisman Trophy, Cole Pepper joined Melissa Ross on Monday for the First Coast sports wrap.

Bills Defeat Jaguars 27-20

Jacksonville really let this one get away from them. Four turnovers, including two near the goal line. One was a Denard Robinson fumble at the 1-yard line, the other was the key play in the game.

With just over two minutes left in the game and the Jaguars on the Bills 5-yard line and trailing by a touchdown, Chad Henne's pass was intercepted in the end zone.

Henne said after the game that on that play, he saw a penalty that should have been called.

"I just saw Mike Brown being held," Henne said.

After the game, Mike Brown said he thought it should have been a penalty, but the official said it was within the 5-yard bump zone, so no call.

The Jaguars played without Cecil Shorts and Maurice Jones-Drew due to injury. They started the game without their starting LG, Will Rackley, then his replacement Mike Brewster broke his ankle so they were down to Jacques McClendon.

The Jaguars, in fact, started only three players who began the season as starters on offense.

Brown admited that the Jaguars have been dealing with a lot this year

"I think that's something that kind of happens across the league, maybe not quite as significant (as this)," he said. "Anytime somebody goes down, the next guy has got to be ready."

That effort is the goal, but head coach Gus Bradley said that he didn't see it from the beginning yesterday, but did note the intensity turned up by the Jaguars as the game went on.

So, the Jaguars are 4-10. They were officially and mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yesterday when Miami beat the Patriots. Two more games to go, including next week's game at home against the Titans.

At halftime yesterday, Mark Brunell was inducted into the Pride of the Jaguars. He joined Tony Boselli, Fred Taylor and Wayne and Delores Weaver. The question is, who will be next?

By on field performance alone, it would be Jimmy Smith. It will be interesting to see if he is next, or if Keenan McCardell might get in first. It's also going to be interesting to see how the Jaguars handle the selection of players for the Pride going forward. Will they make this an annual thing?

Jameis Winston wins Heisman Trophy

On Saturday, Jameis Winston won the Heisman Trophy. He is the youngest Heisman winner ever at age 19; 23 days shy of his 20th birthday.

It was a landslide win with the 7th largest margin in Heisman history for the 2nd straight redshirt Freshman to win, after Johnny Manziel last year.

Winston will try to become the second man ever to win two Heisman Trophies next year.

Winston's road to the trophy had been somewhat marred by sexual battery allegations made against Winston earlier this year related to an incident last year.

Last week investigators announced they would not charge him due to a lack of evidence.

Jacksonville pro-soccer town hall meetings start this week

The professional soccer team is still a couple of months from settling on a team name, but they are starting a series of town hall meetings.

JAX NASL's first town hall is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at World of Beer. It will be a great chance to learn about the plans for the team and preparations for the 2015 inaugural season.
