Elton Rivas is the co-creator of the One Spark Festival. Last week I sat down with him and learned “how to One Spark.” Rivas told me he was excited about how this will transform Jacksonville.

“I think honestly we are most excited about the things we don’t know [are] going to happen," says Rivas. "We have heard some rumblings of some really cool stuff to put on during One Spark. We are just really excited to see this come to life and see what our community can be.”

Tens of thousands of people are expected to be in downtown Jacksonville for the One Spark Festival and other events through (including a Carrie Underwood concert, a performance by comedian Lewis Black and Jacksonville Suns baseball) this weekend.

Parking will be at a premium around the One Spark Festival area. A free shuttle bus will be in service running from Everbank Field to Hemming Plaza. You can also park for free behind the Prime Osborn Center and take the Skyway. The Skyways hours will be extended into Sunday.

Jacksonville's inaugural One Spark Festival is set spark up downtown next week, and no one's happier about it than financial backer Peter Rummell.

The former CEO of the city's St. Joe Company says he's hopeful One Spark will become synonymous with the First Coast.

"You think of the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, or SXSW in Austin, Texas," says Rummell. "This event has that same potential."
