There's a wealth of theater options this weekend on the First Coast, including an appearance by a long-time television actress in an adaptation of a recent award-winning memoir.
In a special guest appearance at Theatre Jacksonville, acclaimed television, stage and film actress Linda Purl is starring now in a dramatic adaptation of The Year of Magical Thinking, the award-winning, bestselling memoir by Joan Didion.
Didion transforms the story of the sudden and unexpected loss of her husband and their only daughter into a stunning and powerful one-woman play.
Linda Purl has appeared on shows ranging from HBO’s True Blood, The Office, Homeland and other high profile roles. Purl and Theatre Jacksonville executive director Sarah Boone joined Melissa Ross to discuss the production.
Also on stage this weekend, if you liked Ring of Fire, The Buddy Holly Story, and Patsy Cline and Hank & His Honky Tonk Heroes, the Alhambra Theatre has the show for you.
The cast of Pump Boys and Dinettes joined Melissa to talk about the production and share some songs from the show.
