Small Business Saturday is gaining a lot of momentum here on the First Coast.
In Clay County nearly 100 small businesses are participating in Shop Small Saturday in some form or fashion, said Annie Grogan with the Small Business Development Center.
“Small businesses drive our local economy and provide the most opportunity for job growth,” according to Tresa Calfee, Interim President of Clay Chamber.
Businesses from Fleming Island, Green Cove Springs, Keystone Heights, Oakleaf, Orange Park and Middleburg have all signed up to take part.

Downtown Jacksonville merchants are also joining together on November 25 to support the Shop Small movement, with Downtown Vision providing the following list of participating merchants:

- Chamblin's Uptown | 215 N. Laura St.
- Hemming Plaza Jewelers | 213 N. Hogan St.
- HOBNOB | 220 Riverside Ave. #110
- The Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops | 90 Riverside Ave. #605 in Brooklyn and 1432 Hendricks Ave. in San Marco
- The Jacksonville Landing | 2 Independent Dr., Accentuate (boutique) and The Art Center are taking part.
- Jacksonville Main Library | 303 N. Laura St.
- MOCA Jacksonville | 333 N. Laura St.
- Mocha Misk'i | 209 N. Laura St.
- Sweet Pete's Candy | 400 N. Hogan St.
- The Volstead | 115 W. Adams St.
- Wolf & Cub | 205 N. Laura St.
American Express claims credit for starting the Shop Small movement in 2010.
