Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Nassau, Union Schools Closed Today Due To Weather
The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a wintry mix of precipitation in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday evening to 9 a.m. Thursday for Baker, Nassau, Duval and Union counties.
Schools in Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Nassau and Union counties will be closed Thursday.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday for the Suwannee Valley Region.
Rain will mix with sleet and possibly freezing rain tonight into Thursday morning in Jacksonville.
Any frozen precipitation accumulations should be minimal, since temperatures for most of the event should be just above freezing.
Some minor ice accumulation may occur on grassy areas, overpasses and bridges, especially over inland locations. Cold temperatures and wind will result in wind chill temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.
