Jacksonville officials have issued an ozone warning as temperatures push into the 90's.

The city's Regulatory Compliance Department has issued an air quality advisory for the elevated ozone concentrations caused by hot and dry weather.

Officials say children, the elderly and other sensitive individuals should avoid exposure by staying inside and refraining from strenuous outdoor activity.  Outdoor activities should be planned for times when ozone levels are lower, usually in the morning or evening.

The Jacksonville Environmental Quality Division maintains a website with the most up to date local Air Quality Index information and ozone data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The National Weather Service has forecast a high temperature of 92 degrees in Jacksonville on Thursday.
