The Jacksonville Jaguars are bringing a charitable event that started last year in Jacksonville back to Everbank Field with a second event planned in London.Last year, 50 kids took home new beds donated by Ashley Furniture Homestores after a sleepover at EverBank Field.
This summer, Ashley Furniture and the Jacksonville Jaguars will throw another slumber party, this time for a hundred kids. Plus, a second sleepover is planned for 100 lucky kids at Wembley Stadium in London.
Ashley CEO Howard Fineman says it’s an opportunity to help needy children and promote the city at the same time.
“We’re all about supporting the Jaguars and the fans but most important we’re spreading the message of what the Jacksonville community is all about. Which is again servant leadership, leading by example, giving to others with no agenda,” Fineman said.
The sleepovers are part of Ashley’s "A Hope To Dream" program, created in 2010 to provide new beds for children who may never have slept in one of their own.
Since then, the Jacksonville-based company says it’s given bed sets to more than 10-thousand children across the United States.
The sleepover at EverBank Field is set for August 1. The London sleepover is planned for Aug. 30.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Dallas Cowboys in a regular season home game at Wembley Stauium on Sunday, Nov. 9.
